A ruffle attached at the waistline of a dress or skirt is known as the peplum dress. Peplum first became popular in the 1940s. They made a come back in the 1980s but did not do well. However, a couple of years back, it reappeared on the ramps. Victoria Beckham brought peplum trend back in the 21st century in her spring collections.
Who should opt for a Peplum?
Peplum on skirts, blouses, and dresses work best for a straight figure. It adds volume to the hips and tricks the eye to see an hourglass figure.
Peplum trend was also adopted by our designer fraternity extending from Sabyasachi to Tarun Tahiliani to Amalraj Sengupta and Nupur Kanoi coming up with their trademark and personal touches to this fashion.
