Tarun Tahiliani – The Renowned Indian Fashion Designer
Tarun Tahiliani is a renowned creative Indian Fashion Designer and couturier based in New Delhi. He is one of the few designers who have always taken bold initiatives to develop something unique with the neo-classical combination elements in his collections year after year. He utilizes extreme skills to create fusion work by combining Italian fashion technology with the Indian artifacts in designing to create spellbound outfit collections every season. His work is fresh and full of life exhibiting his versatility in both Indian as well as western apparel designing.

Tarun Tahiliani started his career in fashion in 1987 after completing his studies in Business Management from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He opened a boutique called ‘Ensemble’, which is one of the most important destinations for classy fashionable clothes and couture in India. His collections got enormous appreciation from customers and soon went on to introduce a dynamic change in Indian fashion. Later he joined the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York to achieve a degree in fashion and enhance his knowledge of garment technologies used in various parts of the world.
Tarun Tahiliani’s Debut Show Rubaiyat
He organized his first solo show called ‘Rubaiyat’ at a Gala Fundraiser event held in Dorchester Hotel, London in 1994. The year 2003 marked an important milestone in his career as an Indian Fashion Designer when he became the first designer from country to get the invitation to exhibit his collection at the grand international platform, The Milan Fashion Week. Later he went on to attend and put forth his collections at several international fashion shows including New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Moscow, Karachi, South Africa and many other countries.
Kumhback Collection 2013
In 2013, Tahiliani launched his ‘Kumbhback’ collection on the second day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Spring in 2013. The saints and worshippers at the Maha Kumbh Mela inspired his collection this year. He dressed the models as Sadhu and Sadhvi wearing long neck pieces of beads looking like Rudraksh. He very wisely used color combinations of saffron, maroon, red, blue, rust, amber and other bright colors seen during this religious occasion.
Over the years, he has acquired a decent reputation for his fashion labels, couture and seasonal collections. Tarun Tahiliani excels in creating varieties of traditional dresses, modern and fashion styling. He used different forms of embroidery including Chikan embroidery work from Lucknow to the use of semi precious and precious stones including Swarovski crystals, beads, sequins and much more.
