Some of the latest hairstyles for long hair are so simple that you would have enough time to style your daughter’s hair before she goes to school in the morning.
Let’s take a look at some of the new hairstyles for girls:
This adorable little girl, has had her long hair parted to one side and then fishtail braided into ponytails with the ends curled upward in the hair tie. Everything is relaxed and free hanging making this a carefree hairdo for a day of fun and playing for any time of the year. She could also wear her hair like this for a day at school. Any girl of any age could wear these hairstyles for girls with long hair and have fun with them.
The photo above demonstrates a large, braid that starts to one side, comes across the forehead and is slightly pulled back away from her face. The hair is only braided half way down and the bottom of it is left to hang loosely with the rest of her hair. The braid is tied off and held in place against her head and then decorated with a cute bow. This is a quick style that can be done in a matter of minutes. What is great about this particular design is that it keeps the girl’s hair out of her eyes and reveals her pretty face.
One of the simplest, quick and easy hairstyles for long hair is to wear a headband. There are many different styles of headband that you can try and they come in every colour, so you can conveniently find one to match any outfit. Headbands are a charming accessory for girls with long hair. The band in the photograph has been used to pull some of this child’s hair back away from her face, but has left faux bangs to soften her look. The rest of her hair has been left to just drape around her shoulders naturally.
The headband can work with curly hair just as well as it can with straight hair. In picture above, the girls hair has been pulled back off of her forehead, but left a little slack at the sides to add volume and to keep the hairstyle from being too harsh for the little girl. Her hair may be naturally curly, or it may have been curled to create this look. Styling your hair with a headband is perfect for those days when you are running late. These are easy hairstyles for long hair.
For days when you want something a little more formal or you have plenty of time to try out new hairstyles for long hair, you could give this a chance. The girl’s hair has been brushed back away from her face and curled into long ringlets then pinned into place. Cute little flower pins have been added for more effect. This hairdo would look divine for a flower girl at a wedding or any other event that is formal or special.
If you are going to curl a child’s hair, remember to use the least dangerous method. Using a hot curling iron can burn the child, so use extreme caution and care. Be sure to let the child know that the instrument is hot and that she must sit still when having her hair curled so that she does not get burned. Try to keep as much distance from the iron to the child’s skin as possible. Place a comb, brush or your hand in between the child’s skin and her hair when you are curling it to further prevent accidents. It is not recommended to curl a child’s hair if she is under school age as children that young would have a hard time sitting still and being aware of the danger.
Here is another example of these types of hairstyles for girls with long hair. Again, the little girl’s hair has been pulled back and the two sides brought together with a slight french twist and pinned into place to prevent it falling apart. Once again, flowers have been used to decorate the child’s hair. Her hair has been left to cascade naturally, without curling or straightening her hair. It is best to leave the child’s hair natural as this adds to the cuteness of her hair and overall look.
If you have mastered the technique of braiding then you have a wide variety of hairstyles for girls with long hair to choose from. You may even come up with your own designs and experiment with different looks. The example above, shows a cross over pattern made with two braids. The hair was parted into four sections on the head and a french braid was started with the two front sections being braided towards the opposite back sections. The french braiding was stopped once the part was reached and normal braiding was done until it reached the opposite back section. Once the braid reached the second section the hair here was then once again french braided into the existing braids that were crossing over it. All the hair was french braided in and then just normal braids were created until finished.
There are many new hairstyles for girls that can be fashioned using various braiding methods. A delightful and fun design for braiding is to create a heart shape with the braids. This look is cute anytime of year, but especially adorable for Valentine’s Day. There are different ways to make this shape using braiding and the photograph above used french braiding.
Rope Twisted Heart
For this crowning achievement you will need to make sure you have a ribbon that is long enough, in your desired colour. You will also need two small hair ties for the ends of the two braids and perhaps some hair pins.
Step by Step guide:
- Part the hair all the way down the middle so that you end up with two sections of hair.
- Make sure you measure your ribbon to have the correct lengths, for doing the braids, to go around the head as well as to make the tie at the end.
- Begin braiding one side of the hair in a regular braid. Have one section of the hair you are braiding covered over with the ribbon so that it clearly and flatly shows throughout the braid.
- When the braid is complete the full length of the hair, ensure you have enough ribbon left hanging down the end of the braid to be used to tie it into a bow after the braid is wrapped around the crown.
- Tie off the end of the braid with the hair elastic to hold it together.
- Wrap the ribbon around the bottom of the back of the head for a nice round appearance.
- Once again, braid the ribbon into the second section of the hair, as you did with the first.
- Tie off the end of this braid with the hair elastic, as well.
- Wrap both of the braids up around the top of the head and place the braids neatly together. You may pin the braids into place for extra security if you wish at this time.
- Tie the ribbon ends together into a sweet bow.
With a Twist
These pigtail hairstyles for girls with long hair have been produced with a twist for added flare. The pigtails were made, then split in two and twisted around into heart shapes and tied off at the bottom of the heart. This is a darling style for little girls to wear and perfect for any day. This is another quick and easy hairstyle for long hair that can be done for a day at school or a day at play.Heart
Here are three twisted hairstyles for girls with long hair that can be played around with and decorated to suit your child’s taste. The photo on the left shows just one twist that you could create evenly on both sides and bring them around to meet at the back to be tied and pinned to keep them from falling apart. The middle picture has created a similar style but using two twist on each side for a little variety. The right photograph displays one twist which may or may not be repeated on the other side. This twist has been pinned with a cute barrette above the ear and then pinned in place at the back of the head. However, to hide the end of the twist some of her hair has been brushed over it. You could use any decoration in any colour to match your outfit or the occasion when creating these easy hairstyles for long hair.
Pigtails are another option for hairstyles for girls with long hair. Pigtails can be left plain or can be braided. Braiding is a nice, neat way to help keep long hair out of the way of your daily activities. Braided pigtails are good style for when engaging in sports, playing games outdoors and just everyday wear. You can part the hair right down the middle for even length pigtails or off centre, as in the picture above.
Change the pigtails into a new hairstyle for girls by creating a curl that can look like precious, little, animal ears. This is very easy to do. Simply separate the hair into two sections, like you would for normal pigtails. Take the hair on one side and form a regular pigtail, then loop or curl the hair near the head so that the hair is folded. At the bottom of the loop tie the tail securely with a hair elastic to keep it in place. You can let the rest of the tail fall naturally or pin it to try to hide the ends.
Hairstyles for girls with long hair can be very effortless and yet still look delightful. The hairdo in the photograph above was incredibly simple to create, and the results are adorable. To copy this look, part the hair to one side and gather the hair at the front that would fall into the girls face and brush it back. Take this section and tie it with a ribbon in a colour to match the youngster’s outfit. If her hair is thick, you may need to tie it with a hair elastic first and tie the ribbon over the elastic to hide it.
Another marvellously quick and easy hairstyles for long hair is to through the hair into a ponytail. The ponytail can be to one side or straight down the back. It can start high on the head or be done low near the neck. This style works with straight, wavy or curly hair. Brush the hair together working it into the tail where you wish to put the elastic hair tie to hold it. You can use a colour tie that matches your hair colour or one that matches your clothes. You can use hair ties that have decorations on them or attach decorations to them. In other words, your ponytail and be as plain or fancy as you would like to make it.
Partially Braided Ponytail
A slight variation on the classic ponytail is the partially braided one. This is a pretty approach to liven up this trait. To produce this example in the photo above, brush the hair back away from the face. Take a section at one side of the head, just above the ear and start to braid this towards the back. Leave a few strands in front of the ear to hang loosely down to soften this look. Continue to braid all the hair that you have separated and tie it off at the bottom, so the braid doesn’t fall apart. Gather all of hair into a ponytail, making sure not to cover over the braid on the side and tie it together. Some hair has been wrapped around the tie and tucked into it, to hide the tie. This type of hairstyles for girls with long hair can be worn to just about any occasion.
This picture illustrates another idea for partially braided ponytail hairstyles for girls with long hair. This sweet girl has her hair parted to one side with a zigzag pattern for the part to add a bit of dazzle to her look. Many new hairstyles for long hair that have a part use this zigzag pattern. Her hair has a small, micro braid which starts near the front of her hair at the part and works it’s way around the crown of her head and down the back. This braid is then tucked into her pulled through ponytail and the whole thing tied off with a cute flower decoration. The whole effect is an adorable hairdo with pleasantly surprising elements that emphasize cuteness.
