Ritu Beri started with an Army School based in Dhaula Kuan since her father Balbir Beri was a part of the Army force, New Delhi and later graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in Economics Honours in 1988 subsequently entering NIFT (National Institute Of Fashion Technology). She was amongst the first batch of 25 students who graduated from NIFT. While growing up, she was always passionate about Fashion and often caught up with the latest fashion fads and trends of her time.

To satisfy her passion for fashion, she kick started her career by first designing clothes for her own friends and family. Later around 1990, she launched her own studio and a label named ‘Lavanya’ where she designed an entire collection for the young damsels of the country and thus became profitable as well. She was even invited to the design curtain raiser ceremony of Olympics at Atlanta.
Ritu Beri received adulation for her haute couture in Paris. She was one of the first Indian Fashion designers to receive international acclaim. She also became the first designer to be placed and featured in Promostyl’s magazine ‘Acustyl’, which sums up the predictability of fads all over the world. This achievement of hers is completely owed to her dazzling sense of ‘Modus Vevendi’ (manner of one’s living defining one’s attitude).

All of Ritu Beri’s artistic creations reflect upon her wonderful sense of fashion inherent in her attitude towards life. As her supporters claim “she does not live in Fashion… the Fashion breathes in her…” She has even been counted in the list of potential International Entrepreneurs by the eminent and prestigious, Time Magazine.
A lesser known fact about Ritu Beri is that she is a versatile writer as well creating her own textual work in which she has made alive her sense of fashion through her astounding writing skills. The book is named as 101 Ways to Look Good. Further, Ritu Beri serves as an honourable patron for the “Savera Association” ( devoted to improving the lives of Indian women) and also serves as one of the board members of NIFT. Ritu Beri received the Millennium Achiever and Rashtriya Shiromani Awards in the year 2000. Later in 2004, Ritu Beri received the Global Excellence Award for her contribution in the domain of fashion.
Ritu Beri’s clients include an impressive list of distinguished and opulent personalities. Her international clientele comprises of big names such as the former US president Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, Nicole Kidman, The Swarovsky Family, Elizabeth Jagger and many more including some Hollywood actors.
