Neeta Lulla – The Queen of Indian Fashion
The Indian fashion industry is incomplete without Neeta Lulla – the name speaks for itself. Without this fabulous designer, Asutosh Gowariker’s Jodha Akbar or even Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s, Hum DIl De Chuke Sanam would have lacked the magic that Neeta Lulla’s beautiful collection created on screen. Neeta Lulla has been given the title “Queen of Indian Fashion”. Bollywood’s top actor and actresses have been dressed by this fabulous designer- starting from Sri Devi, Aishwarya Rai, Kareen Kapoor to Hema Malini and among men, are Shah Rukh Khan, Rajnikanth and Hrithik Roshan; you name the artiste and the designer’s magic wand has touched them! Her designs are not only popular in India, but also abroad. She has also designed for Hollywood movies like Pride and Prejudice and One Night With A King.
Neeta Lulla was always enthusiastic about fashion; however, she got married in a very early age and had to make a choice between her household and her passion, fashion. Thankfully, she chose fashion and there has not been looking back anymore. She started her career in the late 1980’s as an assistant to the former Indian leading fashion choreographer, Jeanne Naoroji. After gaining experience and knowledge in the field, she started off with her first individual venture in Bollywood with the film Tamasha. However, she had always been an underdog. She came into the public attention with the movie Lamhe where she designed cloths for Sridevi. The simple yet elegant look won her a national award, along with appreciation and great accolades.
