Cotton Sarees are Indian female ethnic wear, with the length varying from two yards to nine yards and width or height as two to four feet. These are worn as a favourite and most comfortable outfit by women of all ages, over a petticoat as the lower garment and blouse as the upper garment. Being one of the preferred and easeattire for Indian women which can be worn as a daily wear, exploited well in summers.

These sarees can be worn on special occasions such as Diwali, Holi, Dusshera, and other Indian festivals celebrated in various states of the country. Women wear sarees to their workstations, schools and colleges, hospitals on a daily purpose.

Cotton sarees are considered as a summer wear dress since it is easy to handle, comfortable and available in cool colors with different prints making it a soothing wear. Cotton sarees come in all price ranges with a daily wear sari starting at a very affordable price of Rs.600 and going to a higher range depending upon the design and occasion the sari is being chosen for.

Light weight cotton sarees are used as a summer cotton wear of light and pastel colours with little or no embroidery. Printed Cotton sarees or plain sarees are preferred for home wear. Checked patterns, flower print, thread work, zari, dull golden patch, golden thread work are all popular in cotton sarees.

  • Orissa produces cotton sarees in the name of Sambalpuri or Vichitrapuri.
  • Venkatgiri cotton sarees are the work of Hydreabad producing a perfect summer wear saree in usually off-white with a pinch of dull gold.
  • Gold thread ornamented Nander saree is the production of Andhra Pradesh with a silk border.
