What you see - Dolce means “Sweet” in Italian and trust us, the music that reaches your ears, when you come anywhere close to this institute, is truly sweet. Enter this music institute and you are bound to see a teacher perched on a chair, passionately playing a tune on the piano, while the student observes and tries to learn with rapt attention. And don’t be surprised if you start wishing that the music plays endlessly. Because that’s what we wished for.
Established in the year 1999, this institute is located in a plain and dusty complex though it has sophisticated interiors. The front room is the piano room which also doubles up as an office. The huge wooden piano takes up half the space here. Apart from that, there are two other rooms that are spacious (than the piano room) and amply-ventilated. Here you find violins and guitars of all kinds hung on the walls apart from some nice and comfy furniture.
What you get - The course range here is massive. It includes guitar (ordinary, lead, rhythm, classical, flamenco, jazz, country, folk, blues, slide), piano, electronic keyboard, violin, mandolin, jazz drums and mouth organ. Fortunately, the institute itself provides the books for study and the instruments.
As far as the enrolment is concerned, you can register and join any time and opt for a time slot of your preference. A month’s training (3 classes per week) would cost you Rs. 700. They also have a vocational course of 45 days on offer. This costs about Rs. 2,500. The institute is affiliated to the London School of Music and conducts grade examinations.
Alexander, the teacher here, believes that the cognitive ability of each student differs and therefore the individual classes. He has done Diploma in Music from Singapore National University and is the sole teacher here.
Our verdict - Dolce claims to be the only institute in twin cities that offers training in rock music. So if that’s what interests you, give it a try. And what’s good here is the fact that the training is carried out on a one-on-one basis.
