What you see - Expecting another run-of-the-mill store in Banjara Hills, you reach Road No. 1. But you are in for a pleasant surprise when you see their bright yet subtle signboard announcing Reevs. Take a rather winding staircase and you reach this well-lit showroom with men dressed in formals.
What you get - This is a complete ethnic and formal wear store. You may not find any major brands here as they manufacture their clothes.
Trousers and casual suits are available in the most regular colors. Here they have a lot of pinstripes too. Linen fabrics here are priced between Rs. 595 and Rs. 1,800 per meter. You have Teri wools, polynosic fabrics, tericotton and corduroys here. Corduroys come in browns and blacks but they also have material in shades of burgundy and beige. These are available at a price of Rs. 695 per meter. Tweed fabrics (Rs. 1,400 per meter) seem to be the rage here, especially among those going abroad.
When we visited it, most of the shirt material was available in summer shades of lime green, sunny yellow and ocean blue. We found that the linen materials are priced between Rs. 395 and Rs. 695 per meter while the 100% cotton fabric varied between Rs. 295 and Rs. 695.
Among the synthetic materials, an interesting find here was a chocolate colored fabric with cream-yellow honeycomb design for Rs. 695 per month. This is definitely for those who are bored of plains and pinstripes and would care to dress differently. A party-wear fabric that one could find is a crushed black material with some shine. It comes for Rs. 695 per meter. Readymade shirts in this collection include those with beads and sequin work. Formal shirts too find a place on their shelves and these range between Rs. 495 and Rs. 895.
They also have a casual shirt section. Some shirts here are for those who like to experiment with colors and designs. Like the green cotton shirt we saw with a spray paint like design on the chest part for Rs. 1,195. Or the bright red shirt with white patches and red embroidery. These are available only in sizes 40, 42 and 44.
Walk over to the Sherwani section and you will be pleasantly surprised. They have self-print white teriwool fabric for Rs. 1,200 per meter. The feel of the fabric is excellent. They have Italian lightweight fabrics too. They have a super150 wool based material for Rs. 4,195 per meter. There are velvet based materials too. The cotton silk fabric for Rs. 145 could make for a good kurta. They have raw silk materials too in different shades. Nature-friendly enthusiasts could go for a jute fabric with butterfly shaped designs on it for Rs. 375. The same fabric even comes stitched as a Sherwani with embellishments like pearls and brown embroidery work at over Rs. 4,000. All their stitched sherwanis and suits come in the standard size of 40. So others might have to get it tailored from the fabrics available there. Women also can buy the fabrics and get a suit or skirt tailored.
They have an entire section for Sherwani dupattas. A few of them are hand woven in a mix of cotton and silk fabric and they add to the ethic feel. They have a braided cream and black dupatta with threads sticking out of it for Rs. 500. Another good pick would be a grayish-brown silk dupatta with golden work on it and it has thick golden skeins at the end.
To complete your ethnic look they even have pagdis (head gear) and jootis (footwear). You can even get some custom made. Among accessories other than the regular belts and socks, they have suspenders for around Rs. 1,695.
They also have their own tailoring unit. They will charge you around Rs. 2,500 for a two-piece suit and Rs. 3,000 for a 3-piece suit. For a kurta pyjama it is Rs. 350, while for a trouser is Rs. 400 and for a shirt it is Rs. 200.
Our verdict - This place does have a lot of fabrics for ethnic wear. So if you are looking for complete ensembles for weddings, head here. Their party wear collection stands out too. The rates seem to be affordable and the customer support staff is extremely helpful. Parking space is available.
