What you see - Nothing can be better than a fun-filled day packed with water games, giant slides and a mini wave pool. Offering you all of that and more is Ocean Park, one of the first theme parks started in the twin cities, that is a great hit with the children.
What you get - While it has a special wading pool and fun slides for the kids, the most exciting water sport is the mini wave pool and the 100 feet water slide. However, one has to climb up three flights of stairs to reach the boat landing area and it is suitable for small children only when accompanied by adults. The wave pool is a lot of fun and although the maximum depth in the pool is 5 feet, going past the ward off area can be dangerous.
Ocean Park has separate swimming pools for men and women. Swimsuits are available on hire as well. It also has a few snack counters and a restaurant, which you are sure to visit as you are not allowed to carry in your own food. The entry fees here are Rs. 180 for an adult and Rs. 120 for kids (below four and a half feet in height).
If you manage to pull your children out of the water, there is an amusement park adjacent to the water sports section as well. Toy train, helicopters, air-filled balloons and video games are available here. The slightly older kids can opt for a tora-tora ride, single loop roller coaster and a ship that sails from side to side churning your insides. They also have horse and camel rides for children in the evening.
Our verdict – This is a good place to go to when it comes to water rides. The food joints are good as well though they get crowded because outside food is not allowed in. Water is cleaned here on a regular basis but then the constant flow of crowds does make hygiene a difficult parameter to live up to.
