What you see – Hakim’s salon was started in Hyderabad in April 2008. Posters of models sporting different hairstyles and celebrity clients like Tabu, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Allu Arjun, Kareena and Ram Charan Tej, adorn the walls. Around the corner are two comfortable lounge chairs for consultation. In the same room are 12 workstations with individual mirrors, TV screens and various products. For all those office-goers who cannot spend much time away from their work, Hakim’s has laptops and phones for their use as well. The salon has an in-house DJ playing Club, House and Bollywood music and he plays requests too. The salon’s clientele spans teenyboppers to the crème of the society.
What you get – Hakim’s services includes everything to do with wanted hair like cutting, coloring, texture changes (straightening or perming), treatments for dandruff, dryness, hair fall, volume and more. Besides hair services, they do manicures and pedicures and have a tattoo lounge. The products they use are branded and as per the client’s need.
The salon has nine stylists across degrees of experience starting from Stylists, Senior Stylists and moving to Top Stylists and Style Director. The rates vary based on who you wish to get your hair job done with and range from Rs. 475 to Rs. 1,600 for men and Rs. 675 to Rs. 2,000 for women. All the stylists are sent for three months training to Mumbai. The salon’s religious clients are given a discount card called Snip Cut, which the entire family can use.
Irrespective of which stylist one chooses, there’s a 20-minute consultation with the Style Director, on the person’s lifestyle, profession, hair routine, style wanted etc. Based on these factors suggestions are made. The hair is shampooed and conditioned if it is a haircut, or just shampooed if it’s for coloring, straightening etc. There is a complimentary service after a hair cut, wherein a client can go back for one session of styling for hair between Monday and Thursday.
The salon also has a training academy, which is on from 9.30 AM to 11.30 AM, Monday to Friday. The trainees are then on the floor assisting the stylists till 1 PM.
Our verdict – Centrally located, Hakim’s is extremely easy to find. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices seem steep but tally with the services provided. The salon is hygienic and well maintained. There’s ample parking space for all. If what you want is a good salon, which understands hair, your wants and lifestyle then we recommend Hakim’s Aalim.
