D ‘N’ K for affordable kids’ wear

What you see - Located beside the busy Nagarjuna circle, D ‘N’ K (Dee Kays) in Hyderabad is a little difficult to find. It is the United Colours of Benetton or the Metro Shoe store that will vie for your attention in this area. Look carefully and you will see a board that announces the location of this store on the first floor. And the only way up is through a lift at the basement. Enter this store and black and white smiling faces of children gaze at you from the walls. Colorful belts and hair bands near the cashier welcome you.

What you get – D ‘N’ K is basically a kids’ store but you get clothes for teenagers too. You will find casuals, party wear, bathrobes, swimwear, accessories and foot wear all under one roof. They say that their specialties are the character costumes like Spiderman, Batman and Superman.

For youngsters they have cycling shorts from Rs. 68 onwards up to Rs. 150. For the tiny ones they have those 3/4th slacks in hosiery cotton for Rs. 170. These are available in plenty of shades ranging from peppy yellow to cow dung green. Night suits and pyjamas are made of textile cotton and have a light and airy feel to it. These begin at Rs. 199 and go up to Rs. 350.
 
For young girls, they have frilly frocks and demure gowns. These are bound to come in handy for a birthday party or when you have to take your kid along for a formal family affair. For boys, they have kurta-pyjamas from Rs. 800 to Rs. 2,800. Dhoti-kurtas in blue and cream can deck up your child for any occasion. These are priced at Rs. 800. You will also get white cotton kurta set for with digital embroidery for Rs. 380.
 
In casuals they have capris, jeans and T-shirts with catch lines for youngsters to flaunt. Capris are in pastel shades for teenagers while for the younger ones you will get in brighter shades such as pink and blue. These come for Rs. 250 while for the older ones it is Rs. 799. They also have two-piece and three-piece sets. These are either with jeans, skirt or capris and a T-shirt. If it is a three-piece set it comes with a jacket too. These sets come for Rs. 850 and more. They also have crinkled jeans.

For the just-borns they have cute li’l sweaters for Rs. 49 apart from booties in sea blue and baby pink for Rs. 99. They have those kangaroo bags, in which parents can carry infants for Rs. 580. These bags can hold a one-year-old baby too.
 
D ‘N’ K has raincoats too. For girls it is a Barbie themed one with additional space for bags while for boys it is Pokemon themed and these are tagged at Rs. 370. Swimming vests for kids come at Rs. 399 and they come in all the bright hues you can imagine. They also have accessories, stockings and they take bulk orders to make return gifts in case of birthday parties. Usually it is a soft toy that is recommended by them and this will cost Rs. 150 per piece.

Our verdict – You can visit this store with your young ones. There is bound to be something that will fancy your attention and it will be well within your budget too. Teenagers might not exactly fancy the collection here. The customer support staff is extremely helpful and will help you make your choice. Parking space is available.
