What you see – Ayush has lots of open space with lush greenery. It has a typical Malayalam foyer with large wooden pillars standing firm to support the clay-tiled ceiling. But this traditional look interestingly transforms into a contemporary one as you step inside what with plush interiors and all. You also see the figurine of Dhanwantari (the Hindu deity of Ayurveda) positioned near the reception area.
Ayush is a product of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy of Coimbatore and fast moving consumer goods company, Hindustan Lever Limited. The center head tells us that it is their association with the authentic and scientific Arya Vaidya Pharmacy that makes them unique and credible.
This center has three tidy and spacious rooms equipped with the Pathi (wooden plank like structure to lie down), a heater, steam room as well as a bathroom with hot water facility. The staff that you see here wears the typical white sarees with golden border that reflect the typical Kerala culture.
What you get – Ayush offers authentic Ayurvedic therapies from Kerala. Here, they offer treatment for stress and strain, weight loss (they don’t give any guarantee), migraine, insomnia, joint pains, hair and skin problems as well as rejuvenation. The consultation fee is Rs. 75, and if you go for the treatment, it is waived.
Consultation is a must over here, even if you want to pamper yourself with a simple Abhyangam or massage (the doctor is particular about using this term, we noticed). Dr. Vaishali reasons that since there are different body types, the same oil cannot be used for all. So after a check-up, the concerned person is prescribed with a particular or combination of oils, massage or steam.
The doctor claims that they specialize in treating stress and strain, migraine, joint pains as well as skin ailments. And treatment usually consists of either one or a combo of procedures like Abhyangam (Rs. 700), Abhyangam with Navarakizhi / Pichulpizhichil, Shirodhara (Rs. 1,500 for one and Rs. 3,000 for three sessions) as well as herbal medicines. Navarakizhi is external application of medicated puddings and Shirodhara is pouring of medicated milk or oils on the forehead.
They also have special rejuvenation and beauty packages for prospective brides and grooms. This comprises body scrub, body pack, Ksheerdhara (milk bath) and Mukhelpam (facial). They also have membership packages here that start from Rs. 3,500 and go up to Rs. 25, 000.
Our verdict – Excellent customer service, professionalism as well as the hygiene, you’ll find all of this over here. And primarily, they have members of the same gender doing the job for you. So people who are sensitive about these issues would not have a problem opting for it. We would advise you to take an appointment before visiting this place.
